Talk about an adorable way to spread a great message!

You've already seen everyone from collegiate baseball players to Katy Perry covering Carly Rae Jepsson's catchy hit, Call Me Maybe.  Perhaps you've even done a little lip synching to the ditty yourself! But the latest take on the pop single is doing more than putting smiles on people's faces — it's helping adoptable animals find homes.

Getting Creative About Adoption

Animal advocate and pet fashion designer Anthony Rubio was inspired by the song's popularity to create a new animal adoption campaign that began last week. "Adopt Me, Maybe?" started when Rubio posted a photo of his dogs, Bogie and Kimba, posing with a card that reworked the song's hook to read, "So adopt me, maybe?"

Within hours of posting the photo on Buzzfeed, the photo had been shared more than 5000 times, and since then it's garnered well over a million views.

Rubio has been working with local shelters and dropping off cards, but hopes his message of adopting a pet rather than buying one from a pet store reaches far beyond his hometown of New York. In fact, he has more cards to send out to shelters and rescues that could use them. Interested? Contact him on his Facebook page!

In the meantime, you can learn more about the campaign by watching the "Adopt Me, Maybe?" video. (And then, count how many times you catch yourself humming it throughout the day. Here at Crittr HQ, we've lost count.)
